About us

Proyecto DIFA Alternativas y Actualización, A.C. (DIFA Projecto, Alternatives and Update, civil association). is an organization based in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, founded in 2006 and legally established on January 24, 2008.

The word DIFA summarizes our 4 strategic lines: Documentación (Documentation), Investigación (Research), Formación (Training) and Autogestión (Self-management). We are an organization dedicated primarily to Human Development for people in vulnerable conditions and situations due to gender, age, identity and belonging. Our transversal axes are the Generational Perspective, Gender Equity and Transculturality, within a framework of daily exercise of Human Rights.

What do we do?

In DIFA Project we carry out several annual projects year after year to fulfill our social purpose, mission and institutional objectives; We also have institutional (multi-year) programs that allow us to work continuously over time to achieve long-term goals.

Youth Station (Estación Juventud): This is our main institutional program is developed since 2011 in nine municipalities in Chiapas; is a program that adds annual Human Development thematic projects and whose emphasis is to strengthen indigenous youth leaders for community participation.

Documentary Film School: This is a program that has been developing since 2014, in coordination with other actors of organized civil society, for: training in documentary film, production of film documentaries by indigenous directors / xs and the diffusion of documentaries.

Estación Juventud Chiapas

Youth Station (Estación Juventud -EJ-) is our institutional program for the Human Development of Tsotsil and Tseltal indigenous youth, in nine municipalities of Chiapas.

Youth Station was born in 2011 in order to contribute to the strengthening and autonomy of indigenous youth, for their personal and community development, present and future, through articulation, the development of initiatives, capacity building, skills and tools, and the generation of conditions for the improvement of the quality of life of the new indigenous generations in the region of incidence. Taking into account their condition and position generational, identity and gender afiliation. The program has as its thematic components: Art and Culture, Social Capital, Economy, Education, Gender Equity, Environment, Health and Technology.
